Contractor Management

Contractor Management
A major step in achieving acceptable contractor safety performance is selecting a qualified and responsible contractor. Therefore, it is appropriate for clients to request that contractors submit specific safety and training information in their contract proposals.
For example, such information might include:
A review of the contractor’s written safety and environmental policies and practices endorsed by the contractor’s top management
- Injury and illness experienced in the past three years
- A statement of commitment by the contractor to comply with all applicable health, safety and
- environmental regulations and site rules
- Description of the training that each contractor employee has received and the contractor’s programmes for refresher training
- Completion of a safety questionnaire applicable to the work being carried out
It is therefore essential that the nature of the controls exercised by the client is agreed before work starts and this is where we come in as the client’s eye on the ground.
